John Franklin Sr. Obituary

JOHN D. FRANKLIN SR., 87, of Sidney passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at 3 AM at Sidney Care Center. He was born on May 10, 1932 in Jacksonville, Alabama, the son of the late Roosevelt and Rosetta (Jelk) Franklin. On April 14, 1979, John married the former Jo Ann Richards, who survives.

He is survived by seven children, Diana (Ronald) Burns, Timothy Franklin, Rodney (Melissa) Franklin, Ronald Franklin, Claudia Block, James Franklin and Richard Franklin; adopted daughter, Debbie Vondenhuevel; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lula Mae Jones of Torrance, California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, John D. Franklin Jr. and Jerrold D. Franklin and two brothers, Eddie Franklin and James Franklin.

John retired in 1995 from Wagner Manufacturing after 42 years of dedicated service. He loved working outside in his yard and was known as the neighborhood barber. John was loved by everyone. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Sidney.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 1345 Kuther Road Sidney. Arrangements are entrusted to Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave. Condolences may be expressed to the Franklin Sr. family at our website, www.cromesfh.com
