John F. Bertsch Jr.

JOHN F. BERTSCH JR., 76, of Sidney passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 4:38 AM at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 21, 1944 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late John and Rosemary (Johnson) Bertsch Sr. On June 1, 1968, John married the former Anne Baggett, who survives.

He is survived by son, Matthew J. (Jenny) Bertsch of Sidney and two grandchildren, Anastasia Beil and Phillip Bertsch. John was preceded in death by sister, Lorrie Sue Moniaci and grandson, Sebastian Bertsch.

Mr. Bertsch retired from the former G & G Tools as a Machinist. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era from 1965-1969. He was also a part of the United States Air Force reserve. John enjoyed fishing, watching movies, going on cruises and traveling especially to Gatlinburg. He collected a wide assortment of knives, enjoyed shooting sports and was a lifetime member of the Shelby County Deer Hunters Association. John loved taking rides in his corvette. He especially loved being with and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Funeral Services was held Friday January 22, 2021 at 1 PM at First Baptist Church 309 E. North St Sidney, OH 45365 with Pastor John Young officiating. Friends visited from 11 AM up until the time of the service at the church. Graveside Service with full military honors presented be the United States Air Force will be held Saturday June 5, 2021 at 10 AM at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney, OH. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in John's memory.
