Joann Franklin

Joann Franklin of Sidney OH passed away Thursday April 1 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton OH.

Joann was born June 11, 1936 and was an original native of Dayton Ohio. She made a home in Sidney Ohio in 1978 with her beloved husband John Franklin. Joann was a homemaker, loved to converse with family and friends, and was a collector of dolls and “push to talk” collectables. Joann was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 24 1961. She shared her beliefs with others by serving as a full-time pioneer. Joann’s infectious laugh and big smile will be deeply missed. You knew you were loved if she referred to you as “babydoll”.

Joann was preceded in death by husband John Franklin of Sidney, OH. Son; Elgin “Poochie” Kight, Mother; Lillie Mae Richards both of Dayton, OH. Uncles; Jack Richards and Sammuel “PoSam” both of Dayton, OH. John “Pete” Richards of Detroit, MI. She leaves to cherish her memory, Daughter; Lynette Kight, Cousins; Patricia (William) Alexander, Kathryn Richards, Special Daughter; Diana (Ronald) Burns, Special Sons; Rodney Franklin and Ronald Franklin, and Dear Friend Mark Hoffman.

The family would like to thank all who have sent cards, called, or prayed with and for us during this difficult time. We would like to especially thank all who were involved in Joann’s care during the last difficult months of her life; Miami Valley Hospital, Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ohio Living Dorothy Love, and Shelby Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. A private memorial service will be held Saturday, April 10, 2021.
