James "Jim" Foster, Jr.

JAMES “JIM” FOSTER, JR., 98, of Sidney, passed away at 4:53 P.M. Sunday, November 16, 2025. He was born on April 1, 1927 in Smithtown, Kentucky, the son of the late Andrew Foster and Vinnie (Hickman) Clark. On July 5, 1949 he married the former Ruth Hughes, who preceded him in death on April 30, 2010.

Jim is survived by two sons, Wayne (Maureen) Foster of Ocala, FL, and Rod (Shirley) Foster of Sidney; seven grandchildren, Marisa (Alex), Andrew (Samantha), Zachary (Christen), Kayleen, Tamara (Matt), Bethany, and Erin (Phillip); fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson-in-law, Brett Benton; his sister, Betty Corder; and by his aunt and uncle, Sadie and Reuben Jackson, who raised him as their own.

Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII. After the war, he worked in the coal mines before beginning a long career as a machinist. He spent 10 years with the former Sidney Machine Tool and later worked for Sidney Tool & Die, retiring after 27 years.

He enjoyed golfing, bicycling, and especially fishing, a hobby he often shared with Ruth. Jim took great interest in his family and rarely missed the chance to support his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their activities. Jim was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 21, 2025 at 12 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Grunden officiating. Burial with military honors performed by the Sidney Veterans Tribute Squad will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
