James Leroy Stengel Jr.

JAMES LEROY STENGEL JR., 63 of Sidney, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at 1:36 PM at his home. He was born on March 2, 1963, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late James L. (Norma) Stengel Sr. and Bertha (Robert) (Neer) Hatfield.

He is survived by two sisters: Vickie Lump of Odenton, MD, Sandra Hoover-Hickerson of Sidney, eight stepsiblings: Linda (Kent) Zimmerman, Laura (Steve) Thomas, Margaret Shoemaker, Bill (Rose) Payne, Shelley (Roy) Moore, Marla Presser, Cindy (John) Kalivoda, and Deb (Dave) Doseck, best of friends: Connie (Jamie) Reed of Sidney, and Carol Snider of Lima, OH, numerous nieces and nephews, and feline companion, Meowie. He was preceded in death by four brothers, three stepbrothers, and k-9 companion, Emma.

James worked for Klinger Thermoseal in Sidney and volunteered at Dorothy Love where he loved calling and playing Bingo. He also loved decorating during every holiday. He enjoyed going to ball games and was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Even though he was an ornery individual, above all, he loved his family.

Funeral Services for James will be held Monday, July 27, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Chaplain Barbara Sayler officiating. Burial will be at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
