JAMES RAY MULLINS, 79, of Sidney entered the gates of Heaven at 9:30 P.M. Saturday, November 18, 2023. He was born on September 11, 1944 in Harlan, Kentucky, the son of the late Clem and Dola Mullins.
James is survived by former spouse and lifelong friend, LaDonna Mullins-Goings; four children, Khrista (Michael) Bowman of Sidney, Dawn (Mark) Lemon of Greenville, OH, Renee (Chris) Cox of Sidney, and Robert Barber of Sidney; nine grandchildren, Desiree, Brandon (Briannne), Ryan (Sara), Joshua (Courtney) Bowman, Michael (Kayla), and Mark (Amanda) Haynes, Jennifer Woodall, Jess Nalu, and Nichole Lemon; fourteen great-grandchildren, Channing, Rilynn, Kennah, Peyton, Preslie, Livi, Emilee, Blayne, Lillian, Hudson, Zuma, Nakeetah, Phynix, and Jozlyn; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Matthew Haynes and Jennifer Lemon; two brothers, Don Mullins and Jack Amburgey; and two sisters, Geneva Jones and Ollie Thomas.
James was a self-employed construction worker throughout his career. He enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life and was a longtime member of the Shelby County Fish and Game Association. “Dad was an extraordinary man who possessed a blend of many talents and had a heart as big as the universe. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand no matter the situation. Whether it was gathering around the poker table, shooting a game of pool, or picking up that guitar and singing in that ole country bar, he definitely knew how to draw a crowd. He was an amazing Daddy, Pap, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, and as we all mourn his loss, let us remember him not only for his big heart and sense of humor, but also for the love and joy he brought to our lives and the lives of anyone that had the opportunity to feel his love.”
