James Michael Burkart

JAMES MICHAEL BURKART, age 76 of Sidney, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 3:18 PM surrounded by his family. He was born on August 26, 1947, in Fostoria, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Phyllis (March) Burkart. On September 17, 1982, he married Susan (Avery) who preceded him in death on March 6, 2006.

He is survived by son, Travis (Stephanie) Burkart of Columbus, OH, and grandsons, Tyler and Zachary, two brothers: Joseph (Linda) Burkart of Vermillion, OH, and David (Pat) Burkart of Maumee, OH, and sister, Patricia (Jim) Hill of Wickliffe, OH. He was preceded in death by daughter, Tara Burkart.

Mr. Burkart was a St. Wendelin Catholic High School graduate, Fostoria, OH, and attended St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN. He worked as a purchaser for Copeland Corporation in Sidney prior to his retirement. He attended Sidney First Church of the Nazarene and was a lifelong member of the Sidney Elks.

Jim enjoyed watching OSU Buckeyes football and keeping up on his immaculate yard. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

A Private Graveside Service will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney with Rev. Chad Wilson officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
