J.V. THOMPSON, 91, of Maplewood passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at 10:05 AM at his residence. He was born on December 27, 1929 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the son of the late Richard and Virgie (Birdyshaw) Thompson. On March 8, 1947, J.V. married the former Vivian York, who preceded him in death in 2001.
He is survived by four children, Diana Taylor of Sidney, James (Martha "Mac") Thompson of Maplewood, Linda Cathcart of Sidney and Joe Thompson of Maplewood; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren and two siblings, Morris Thompson and Floyce (Dutch) Dunn both of Lawrenceburg, TN. J.V. was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Bernice and Jim Lemay, sister-in-law, Hetty Thompson and sister, Carolyn Thompson.
Mr. Thompson retired in 1991 working as a Machinist for EMI. J.V. was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1403. He enjoyed horse back riding, camping, traveling and going to garage sales and flea markets.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 1 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney with Pastor Earnie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney, Ohio. Friends may visit from 11 AM up until time of service at the funeral home.
