Ila "Bea" Dalton Obituary

Ila Beatrice Dalton (Bea) of Sidney, Ohio, passed to eternal life (11:40 AM) on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Ohio Living Dorothy Love in Sidney (after a brief illness) surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 8, 1934, on a farm in Faubush, Kentucky. Bea was the youngest of nine children born to the late Tom and Edna (Ard) Foster.

On March 29, 1952, Bea married the late Ceburn Dalton. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2017, after sixty-five years of marriage. Bea was predeceased by her six brothers and two sisters, as well as her only son, Dexter, on March 2, 2022. She is survived by her daughter Pattie (Dennis) Stearley, Ft. Loramie, Ohio.

Bea’s talents were many. From an early age, Bea loved to sew. She made clothes for Pattie and created outfits for her Barbie doll. She stitched many beautiful quilts and made costumes for the live nativity scene at church. She became known as an excellent seamstress, working for the former Uhlmans Department Store and working out of her home, sewing for the community. In her spare time she crocheted hats, scarves, and blankets. Bea also worked at Sidney High School as a cook for many years and retired in 1996.

Bea loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Throughout the years she served as a church board member and the coordinator for the funeral church dinners. She traveled to Trinidad and Mexico on mission trips, served as a greeter, sang in the choir, and made a special effort to welcome visitors into the church. Bea received the Distinguished Service Award from the global Church of the Nazarene to recognize and celebrate her many years of faithful service in the Sidney church of the Nazarene.

Bea always made time for others. Those who met Bea loved her southern charm. She made everyone feel welcome and was a joy to be with. She had a quick wit, loved to laugh, enjoyed playing rowdy games of UNO with her grandkids, and would do anything to make sure her family was safe and loved.

In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Bea is survived by three granddaughters: Carri (Dave) Jones of Sidney; Amber (Joe) Lanclose of Humble, Texas; and Amanda Dalton of Kingwood, Texas, four great-grandchildren: Mason, Jackson, and Kobi Jones of Sidney; and Hailey Lanclose of Humble, Texas, five step-grandchildren: Sean Stearley of Wapakoneta, Ohio; Mitch Stearley of Lima, Ohio; Chris DeLorenzo and Carly Gunby of Florida; and Jess Echeverry of California., and daughter-in-law: Cheri (Dexter) Dalton of Sidney.

Bea cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors, and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her, and she will be remembered with the utmost love. Her family grieves her absence, but they take comfort in knowing Ceburn and Bea are together again.
