IDAEL CASIANO ALMODOVAR, 83, of Sidney, passed away at 2:35 P.M.Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Shelby Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on August 17, 1942 in San German, Puerto Rico , the son of the late Armando Casiano Almodovar and Ana Agripina Almodovar.
On July 20, 1963 he married Ercilia Rosado Santos, who survives along with three children, Maria (Richard) Niekamp of Florida, Virgen Casiano Lopez of Sidney, and José (Carolyn) Idael Casiano Jr. of Indiana; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Hunt, Mitchell, Derick and Lydia Casiano, and Sofia Niekamp; two siblings, José (Judy) Armando Casiano, and Ileana Acosta; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one son-in-law, and one granddaughter.
Idael retired from the former Copperweld in Piqua, where he worked as a machinist for 34 years. He took great pride in his job, especially knowing that the parts he tooled were used by Harley-Davidson.
Idael was a member of Northtowne Church of God in Sidney, as well as the Sidney Moose and the American Legion. He enjoyed a good game of dice and was a lifelong sports fan. In his younger years, he played baseball and later loved following the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns.
During his children’s younger years, Idael was a devoted father who could always be found cheering them on at their games and activities, often celebrating afterward by taking his son’s baseball team out for a meal. Above all, he cherished his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11 A.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Carl McNeill officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice Care in Idael’s memory.
