Herstle Myron Griffis Sr.

HERSTLE MYRON GRIFFIS SR., 92, of Sidney passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 7:07 PM at his residence. He was born on April 24, 1931 in Barthell, Kentucky, the son of the late Herbert and Christine (Brooks) Griffis. Herstle was married to the former Dora Holley from May 24, 1950 until she passed on March 31, 2006.  He then married the former Dorothy Nichols in 2007, who survives.

He is survived by six children, Larry (Deborah) Griffis of Piqua, Herstle (Shirley) Myron Griffis Jr. of Troy, Martha (Ralph) Brown of Troy, Janette (Donny) Sawyer of Wapakoneta, Randall Hodge of Sidney and Phillip Hodge of Sidney; twenty-nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and sibling, Homer Griffis of Sidney. Herstle was preceded in death by two sons, John and David, four siblings, Lelia, Delema, Darrell and Hoyt and one grandson.

Mr. Griffis was in the ministry for 47 years and retired from Wapakoneta Baptist Church. Herstle worked as a coal miner and foundry superintendent.  He enjoyed fishing, boating and gardening in his spare time. Herstle especially loved the Lord with all his heart.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday September 21, 2023 at 1 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney with Pastor Craig Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney, Ohio. Friends may visit from 11 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
