HERMAN RICHARD WIESSINGER, 90, of Sidney, passed away at 12:05 P.M. Monday, September 15, 2025 at Wilson Health. He was born on January 19, 1935 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Harley and Alice (Winemiller) Wiessinger. He was married to Wanda Wiessinger, who preceded him in death on June 10, 2023.
Herman is survived by two children, Lori Wiessinger of Sidney, and Eric Richard Wiessinger of Celina; five grandchildren, Brianna (Sean) McSwain, Lindsey (Landon) Kuhn, Emily (Clifford) Butler, Katie (John) Loper, and Aden Richard Wiessinger; eleven great-grandchildren, Chloe, Brennan, Everett, Adelaide, Valor, Mia, Liam, Kinsley, Ava, CJ, and Christian; and one sister, Phyllis Piper of Sidney. He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Margaret Wiessinger.
Herman served in the United States Army. He was retired from Amos Press where he worked for more than 30 years as a press operator and mail room clerk.
Herman was a member of the Sidney AMVETS and American Legion, and enjoyed bowling throughout his life as well as playing slow-pitch softball. He was also an avid supporter of the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State, and Sidney football.
Family was most important to Herman. He rarely missed the chance to be there for his children and grandchildren, cheering them on in their various sporting events and activities. He will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet support, and the pride he took in those he loved.
A graveside service with military honors performed by the United States Army will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 10 A.M. at Shelby Memory Gardens with Pastor Jamie Wellman officiating.
