Harvey J. Wooddell, age 80, of Sidney, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, on his 80th birthday at Upper Valley Medical Center Emergency Room after a short stay at Koester Pavilion for physical therapy. He was born on August 21, 1943, in Sidney, the son of Howard and Grace (Wooddell) Wooddell.
Harvey is survived by his loving family, wife, Jean Wooddell, whom he married on January 6, 1967, children, daughter Sandi (Andy) Freytag and son Dan Wooddell, grandchildren, Brittany (Coty) Niswonger, Zach (Jesse) Freytag, Dylan Wooddell, and Alex Freytag, great grandchildren, Lilli, Kevin, and Kyle Niswonger, siblings, Marvin (Wanda) Wooddell, Melvin (Charlotte) Wooddell, and brother-in-law, Jerry Kauffman.
Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Liz Monnier, brothers-in-law, Don Monnier and Jim Kauffman, mother-in-law, Maxine Kauffman, sisters-in-law, June Kauffman and Connie Kauffman.
Harvey graduated in 1961, Sidney High School. He worked at Stolle Corp for 43 years. He served his country in the United States Army, spending most of his time in Germany. He was a member of the former Parkwood Grange, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Stokes Masonic Lodge. He was also a long-time blood donor.
Harvey enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in sports and school activities. He enjoyed collecting miniature Allis Chalmers Tractors. After retiring, he and Jean enjoyed many camping tours across the USA, seeing many of the National Parks.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor John Leighty, officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens with full military honors. Friends may visit on Sunday, August 27, 2023, 1:00-3:00 PM at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be held on Monday, 9:45 AM.
