Gordon Dennis Obituary

Gordon B. (Wilfong) Dennis, 86, of Sidney, was born at home in Dayton, Ohio on January 20, 1939, son to the late Robert “Bob” T. and Betty (Arnold) Dennis. He passed away peacefully at his residence at 2:03 P.M. Sunday, January 26, 2025, now living eternally in his new home in Heaven with his Lord and Savior.

While on Earth, Gordon attended school in Dayton and graduated from Patterson Co-Op. He served in the U.S. Army stateside for 41 months. Gordon also served as a patrolman with the Dayton Police Department for 10 years before retiring due to a disability after a fiery crash, in which a drunken driver slammed into the back of his cruiser on I-75.

As a "people person," Gordon continued to work a variety of jobs after retirement, ranging from managerial positions to working at dealerships and auto maintenance shops. His hobbies included fixing up bicycles for neighborhood kids and serving as a Royal Ranger leader, where he mentored boys and taught them by example what it means to be a Man of God. Gordon also loved riding motorcycles, frequently talking about and planning motorcycle trips. He enjoyed reading about and touring places that featured collections of classic cars, with his favorite being the earlier versions of the VW bug.

Gordon leaves behind, temporarily, his wife of 40 years, Karen (Lowry) Dennis; sons, Jeff Arnold of Tucson, AZ, and Kellie (Jamie) Stidham of Piqua, OH, both from a previous marriage; sons, Isaac (Erin) Dennis of Troy, OH and Aaron (Jamie) Dennis of Bradford, OH; sons, Jordaan Dennis, Jaames “Chris” Dennis and Bryaan Dennis, all three living at home; sisters; Linda Sudduth of Dayton, OH, Helene Dennis of Katy, TX, Christie Dennis of Woodstock, GA; and brother, Rob Dennis of Arlington, TX. Also surviving are eight very special grandchildren, Isabella, Gwendolyn, Zachariah, Katherine, Charlotte, Aaron Jr., Jonny and Jana. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; adoptive father, Chet L. Wilfong; sister, Gwendolyn (Don) Rhodes; and brother, Warren M. Wilfong.
