GERALDINE MARIE “GERI” IIAMS, 79, of Sidney, passed away at 3:28 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born on June 4, 1946, in Sidney, Ohio, to the late John Everet and Elizabeth “Libby” (Dunn) Lehman.
On July 26, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Michael Iiams, who survives. Also surviving are their daughter, Shelly (Dave) Zimpfer of Maplewood, and one granddaughter, Beth Zimpfer and husband Nick Waldrop of Diamondale, Michigan.
Geri was a 1964 graduate of Sidney High School. Shortly after their marriage, she and Michael spent a year and a half in Fairfax, Virginia, near Washington, D.C., where Michael was stationed with the Army Security Agency following the Vietnam War. During that time, they welcomed their daughter, Shelly. Afterward, they returned to Shelby County, Ohio, where they built a life together and shared 58 years of marriage.
Geri was an animal lover who, along with Michael, cared for many pets over the years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Sidney. She also enjoyed reading and found great peace in time spent at the beach. Following retirement, she and Michael loved traveling, especially to Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Port Charlotte, Florida. She was a quiet soul who deeply loved her family and cherished the time spent with them. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
The family will hold a private burial at Pearl Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be expressed to the Iiams family at (www.cromesfh.com).
