George Wilbur Ginter born on April 29th, 1943, in St. Mary’s, Ohio passed peacefully on Thursday, February 12th, 2026 at 1:24 AM at Fair Haven Shelby County Home. He was born the son of the late Joseph and Naomi (Fisher) Ginter. He was married to Carolyn Woolley -Westerbeck-Ginter and she survives.
George has three children: Brenda (Randy) Echols of Sidney, Gary (Shelly) Ginter of Bellefontaine, and Shelly Frasure of Sidney. Three step-children: Jenny Westerbeck of Sidney, Charles (Janet) Westerbeck of Sidney, and Clayton (Lisa) Westerbeck of Sidney.
Six grandchildren: Cory (Jill) Echols, Darian (Tarah) Ginter, Garrick (Katie) Ginter, Connor (Taylor) Echols, Kylee Ginter, and Logan Frasure. Six step-grandchildren: Brian Westerbeck, Hannah Westerbeck, Hallie (Payton) Arnold, Hayden Westerbeck, Nora Westerbeck, and Cale Westerbeck
Blessed with six great- grandchildren: Daxton, Gunnar, Drayden, Lily, Madeline, Roddy, and Ivy. Three step great-grandchildren: Ace, Haizley, and Hudson.
George’s surviving siblings include:
Sister - Jeannette Mack (Herb Richey) of Celina
Half-brother - Jeff (Tammy) Longsworth of St. Marys

Brothers - Joseph Ginter, Charles Ginter, Roy Ginter, William Ginter, Terry Ginter, Jimmy Ginter, Mick Ginter

George attended St Mary’s High School and served his country in the US Army during two tours in the Vietnam War. He held many occupational positions from milk delivery, meat cutter at St Mary’s Beef Company, gas station owner, head mechanic with Rose’s Amaaco and finally custodian at Sidney City Schools where he retired.
George was a member of the Sidney American Legion and the Shelby County Bass Masters. He enjoyed Fishing, Drag Racing, NASCAR, football (OSU & Bengals) and most importantly watching his grandchildren participate in all their sporting activities while eating popcorn bleacher-side. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He will be missed but always loved!
Funeral Services for George will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney American Legion or the Shelby County Veterans Services in George’s memory.
