George Brockman Obituary

George E Brockman, age 88, died Wednesday, December 9, at Ohio Living Dorothy Love in Sidney where he was a resident.

He was born on December 10, 1931 to the late William H and Margaret (Klindworth) Brockman in Anna, Ohio. On April 7, 1957, he married Sara Shaw who passed away on September 5, 2004. On March 3, 2007, he married Frances (Wolter) Case and she survives along with children Linda Ford of Lexington, Kentucky, David (Vicki) Brockman of Akron, Ohio, and Lisa (Todd) Miller of Sidney. Also surviving are grandchildren Michael (Stephanie) Brockman, Clay Brockman, Michelle Ford, and Evan Miller as well as step-children David (Dorothy) Case and John (Christine) Case and step-grandchildren Amanda (Henry) Haskamp, Scott (Katie) Case, and Ethan Case.

Also surviving are brothers Paul Brockman of Findlay, Ohio and Wayne Brockman of Sidney. Preceding him in death were sisters Esther Sturm, Frieda Heiland and Mary Deam as well as brothers Leroy Brockman and Harold Brockman.

George graduated from Anna High School in 1949 and Miami Jacobs College in 1957. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from December 1951 to November 1955, and was stationed in Texas and Japan.

He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1962. He was staff accountant, partner, and, later, Managing Director of Monnier & Co., CPAs, during a career spanning 36 years. He was active in the Ohio Society of CPAs serving as President of the Lima Area Chapter and also Vice President and President of the state organization.

He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Sidney for many years, serving on the Council and as Treasurer. He was also a long-time choir member. George was very active in civic affairs, serving as President of both the Sidney Jaycees and the Sidney Optimist Club and Treasurer / Director of the Sidney-Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

He retired in 1993 and resided for many winters in Fort Myers, Florida. There he was active in the church and community choirs as a tenor and soloist. During his life, George inspired many not only as a community leader but as a kind, humble, and caring man.

A private service with immediate family will be held at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with burial at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a future date.
