GENE EDWARD "Eddie" BILLING, age 88 of Anna, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 8:15 AM at his home. He was born on August 4, 1932 in Anna, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Kah) Billing.
On June 28, 1958 Gene married Judith Gale (Pfeiffer) who survives along with their three children, Lisa Billing, Michael Billing both of Columbus, OH, and Mindy (Ed) Trujillo of Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by nine siblings: Rosie, Ginny, Maxine, Harold "Shuby," June, Mary Katherine, Kay, Larry, and Dale Kah.
Mr. Billing was a 1950 graduate of Anna High School and obtained his business degree from Miami Jacobs School in Dayton. He worked at the A.P Wilt & Sons store in Anna for three years, driving the first Husker Truck, buying eggs and selling groceries. He started at First National Exchange Bank in October of 1958. He retired from the now titled U.S. Bank in August of 1992. He was Executive Vice President at the time of his retirement. His favorite part of banking was working with people in the community.
Having served in the Navy, Gene was a proud member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a life-long member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Anna. His second home, for many years, was Land O' Lakes, WI. He was an avid fisherman, lover of the great outdoors, and a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 10, 2021 at 12 PM at St. Jacob Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main St. Anna, with Pastor Charla Grieves officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders. The family will receive friends on Monday at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
