Galen Leroy Pennington

GALEN LEROY PENNINGTON, 65, of Sidney passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 6:27 AM at his residence. He was born on October 17, 1958 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of the late James and Wanda (Ritchie) Pennington. On December 5, 1987, Galen married the former Laura Lachey, who survives.

He is survived by two children, Sara (Lucas Gomes de Carvalho) Pennington of Columbus and Sean (Cheyann Berryhill) Pennington of Sidney; grandchild, Aurora Smith and four siblings, Sherley Crawford, Carolyn Herbert, Phyllis Napier and Theresa “Shelley” Newland. Galen was preceded in death by two siblings, Vena Hickey and Lonny Pennington.

Galen recently retired from Copeland Corporation as a Lab Equipment Specialist. He really enjoyed his work, which included the opportunity to visit many different countries. Galen loved gardening, fishing, working on classic muscle cars, and Ohio State football. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones, whether it was catching a game or going to a car show. He was a dependable and kind-hearted person, beloved by family and tons of friends. Galen was great at taking care of others, always willing to do anything for anyone. He will be remembered as a wonderful father, husband, brother and friend.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday May 15, 2024 at 6 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney with his nephew, Pastor Jeremy Herbert, officiating. Burial will be private at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio. Friends may visit from 4 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
