Fred Michael Figley II, 81, of Sidney, passed away at 11:40 P.M. on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County in Troy. He was born on November 23, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late Fred and Hilda (Hartmann) Figley. In December of 1965, he married the former Judy Fuller, who preceded him in death in 1999.
Fred is survived by his two children, Jill (Mike) Bisbee of Sidney and Fred M. Figley III of Botkins; three grandchildren, Taylor, Wyatt, and Rachel Bisbee; and his sister, Joann Cain of Sidney.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Fred served his country in the reserves from 1964-66 and in active duty from 1966-68. He began his career with Zeller’s in Defiance, Ohio. In 1984, he moved to Sidney, where he worked as a general manager overseeing Dixie Auto Parts, Piqua Automotive, and Minster Automotive. Most recently, he worked alongside his son at Solid Surface Fabricators Plus in Anna.
Fred was a member of the NRA, a past member of the Echo Hills Kennel Club, and a member of the Sidney Rotary. He enjoyed motorcycle touring, woodworking, gardening, and target shooting. Above all, he valued time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Fred was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sidney where a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11 A.M. with Pastor Steve Edmiston officiating. Burial with military honors by the United States Navy will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. and at the church on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
