ERMA JEWEL (FRASURE) EVANS, age 87 of Sidney, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 at 3:20 PM at her daughter's residence. She was born on October 1, 1934 in Maytown, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Melvin and Cassie (Frazier) Frasure. On December 17, 1954 she married Richard T. Evans who preceded her in death November 8, 2018.
She is survived by five children; Deborah (Tom) Burkett, Catherine (Rick) Dulin both of Sidney, Richard Thomas II (Gloria) Evans of Versailles, Scott (Sarah) Evans of Piqua, and Betty Jane (Tim) Allen of Piqua, two siblings; Emma Thomas and Wanda Gaier both of Piqua, 12 grandchildren; Heather (Chris) Smith, Ryan (Tiffany) Burkett, Jason Dulin, Shawn (Hannah) Burkett, Lee (Stacey) Burkett, Ben Evans, Colin Evans, Matthew (Sierra) Allen, Eric (Mallory) Sullivan, Megan (John) Clack, Molly Evans, and Caitlin Evans, 31 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings; Thelma Thornsberry, Wayne, Chester, Theodore, and Leatrice Joy Frasure, and four grandchildren, Angela, Joe, and Tava Dulin, and Matthew Evans.
Erma worked at various jobs from a young age. Her most favorite was raising her children and helping raise her grandchildren by always being there for them and making sure they always had what was needed including lots of love and hugs. She was always well loved and respected by everyone who had the pleasure of coming into her life. She would be the light of the gathering, whether attended by few or many, with her laughter, fun loving, and kind heart. She loved going camping, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and playing rummy with her grandchildren. She loved cooking and was famous for her chicken & dumplings. She loved to go gambling and take trips whether planned or spur of the moment. New clothes were always ready in her closet to pack and go.
Her favorite spot at her home was her chair at the kitchen table. Coffee was always ready, and conversations were overflowing. The chair at the table is empty now, but the memories and love for her and her love for us will live on forever.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 4 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Salmer Thornsberry officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 to 4 PM.
