Edward Francis Gariety

Edward Gariety, 70, of Sidney, Ohio passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024. He was born on Feb.16, 1954 in Sidney, Ohio, son of the late Francis and Gladys (Scherer) Gariety. On July 23, 1977 he married Karen (Gooder) Gariety, who survives.

Ed is survived by one daughter, Lindsay (Zach) Geuy and one son, Nicholas Gariety, both of Sidney; three grandchildren, Mack, Zane, and Crew Geuy.  Edward is also survived by one sibling, Patricia (Lawrence) Geise. Ed is also survived by brother-in-law Kevin (Janet) Gooder, sisters-in-law, Suzan Gariety and Louise Gariety, nephews and nieces Jamie Gariety, Jenny (Matt) Bertsch, Tony (Petra) Gariety, Michelle (Doug) Leist, Marc (Linda) Geise, Matt (Brenna Farrell) Geise, Brian (Kristen) Geise, Ginnis, Valerie, Mason, and Lillian Gooder, numerous great-nephews and nieces and mother-in-law, LeRue Gooder. Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Gariety and Lawrence Gariety and father-in-law, Albert Gene Gooder. 

Edward was a 1972 graduate of Sidney High School. He attended Lincoln Tech in 1972-73 where he studied diesel mechanics. He loved his children and grandchildren more than anything in the world. He enjoyed time with family and friends and cherished visits with Mack, Zane, and Crew. He enjoyed time up at Indian Lake.  In recent years, he and Karen enjoyed being snowbirds in Lake Wales, Florida. They enjoyed many years of travelling to Hilton Head, SC, vacations to all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, Seattle, WA and 35+ years of boating/tubing at Lake Cumberland, KY. A highlight of his bucket list was taking his family on a month-long vacation out West back in 1995. Ed enjoyed deer hunting with his son, Nick, and his brothers and nephew Tony along with a few family friends. He also enjoyed duck hunting and mushroom hunting. He liked playing euchre. Ed was a life-time follower of the Cleveland Browns and an avid fan of The Ohio State football and basketball teams.     

In keeping with Ed’s wishes, he will be cremated. The family will plan a Celebration of Life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Dayton Children’s Hospital or Wilson Health Hospice in Ed’s memory. Condolences may be expressed to the Gariety family at our website, www.cromesfh.com
