Earl B. Muir

EARL B. MUIR, 84, of Sidney passed away at 7:12 A.M. Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Upper Valley Medical Center. He was born on December 15, 1937 in West Frankfort, Illinois, the son of the late Everett and Jessie (Baker) Muir. On November 1, 1958 he married the former Linda L. Ladd, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2021. 

Earl is survived by two daughters, Earla Muir of Greenville, and Penny (Craig) Eley of Sidney; two grandchildren, Brittany (Gary) Roesser and Ryan Eley; two great-grandchildren, Hayley and Miles; four siblings, Forest (Georgia) Muir, Mildred Becker, Donna Mallory, and Jay Lynn Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Earl served as Vice President of research and engineering at Emerson Climate Technologies. He retired in 2002 after a successful career that included numerous awards and accomplishments. Earl was highly involved with the development of the Scroll Compressor at Emerson, and he personally holds several patents that he acquired throughout his career. Earl was a devout Christian and lover of gospel music. He was a long-time member of Piqua Christian Church where he served as an elder. His generosity was evident throughout his life as a generous giver to various charities and scholarships. Earl was very social, a skilled problem solver, and a great leader. A talented mechanic; Earl enjoyed working on anything with an engine. He also enjoyed woodworking and furniture building. His greatest joy was his family. He and Linda loved to travel and camp. The place closest to their heart was Sevierville, Tennessee, many times accompanied by their family where many precious memories were made. He will be missed tremendously by his family, friends and colleagues.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday 4 to 7 P.M., and on Friday from 9:30 A.M until the time of service.
