DORA ANN MCFARLAN, 90 of Sidney, was surrounded by her family as they prayed for her at the time of her passing on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 5:07 PM at Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 27, 1935, in Rosewood, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ernest and Evelyn (Magoto) Kies. In June of 1953 she married Robert “Bob” Lee McFarland who preceded her in death July 14, 2023.
Dora is survived by nieces and nephews: Kenneth (Barb) Kies, Brooks (Peggy) Kies, Jesse Kies, Deborah (Scott) Huebner, Ann Herring, Virginia Fouse-Howard, Paul Gross, Patricia Zimfler, and Lynn Frillin, sister-in-law, Janet Kies, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers: Kenneth and Charles (Doris) Kies, and nephew-in-law, Robert Bey.
Dora was a graduate of Rosewood High School. She was a longtime employee of Copeland Corporation becoming the first female executive. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was involved in various roles, as well as Eastern Star, Shriner’s Ladies, Bridge Club, Sidney Moose Lodge, AMVETS, Sidney Elks, and Sidney American Legion Auxiliary. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.
A Memorial Service for Dora will be held Friday, May 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Edmiston officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
