DONALD L. MURPHY, 77, of Sidney, Ohio, formerly of Fort Loramie, passed away at 11:55 P.M. Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. He was born on September 18, 1943 in Greenville, Ohio, the son of the late Carl and Dorothy (Townsend) Murphy. On June 22, 1963 he married the former Gloria J. Fair, who preceded him in death on February 25, 2016.
Donald is survived by two children, Dawn (Bob) Meeker of Sidney, and Donald L. (Kellie) Murphy II of Troy; five grandchildren, Derrick (Rachel) Strohmenger, Kyle (Jessica) Strohmenger, Brittany (James) McDowell, Kirstie (Kevin) Hoover, and Henry Murphy; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert, Gary and Dennis; and two sisters, Helen and Judith.
Donald retired as a Lt. Deputy Sheriff for the Shelby County Sheriff's Office after serving the community for more than 23 years. He was a member of Antioch Temple in Dayton, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Temperance Lodge 73, Gateway Lodge 138 F.O.P., Public Employees Retirees, Moose Lodge 568 and Sons of the American Legion Post 217. Donald was a member of First Baptist Church in Sidney. In his retirement Donald enjoyed mushroom hunting, gardening and building crafts to sell at craft shows. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 1 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Chaplain Candy Null officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the time of service. Donald's final resting place will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney.
