Donald L. McDaniel

Donald L. McDaniel, 77, of 214 Canal Street, Port Jefferson, Ohio, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Bridge Hospice unit at Lima Memorial Hospital. He battled COPD for 25 years. 

He was born January 19, 1947, in Bald Knob, Arkansas, the son of the late W.L. and Ester (Smith) McDaniel.  

He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Wyman McDaniel, in 1994. 

He is survived by his daughters, Renee (Darin) Davis of Sidney, Nicole McDaniel of Lewis Center, grandchildren Jacob (Marilyn) Davis of Galloway, Kaitlyn Davis, Landon Davis and Mitchell Davis of Sidney, great-granddaughter Delaney Davis of Galloway, and two sisters Mrs. Michael (Melda Jane) Hussey and Mrs. Cherrie Schloss, of Sidney, along with several nieces and nephews. He was still close to several fellow Sidney High School classmates, who were hugely instrumental in his life, and many of his golfing buddies from Shelby Oaks and The Moose Golf Course. 

Don, his Dad W.L. and brother Wyman, owned and operated the family business, McDaniel Floor Covering for more than 30 years in Port Jefferson, installing flooring in many homes throughout Sidney and Shelby County.  He retired from the Plastipak Corporation due to illness.  

He was long-time member of the Sidney Moose Lodge, which was his favorite hangout. The family would like donations to be made to the Sidney Moose Lodge Remodeling Project.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
