Derrill Jones Davis Jr.

DERRILL JONES DAVIS JR., 72, of Sidney passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 12:36 AM at Kindred Hospital in Lima. He was born on August 20, 1949 in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Derrill and Sarah (Pope) Davis Sr. On February 14, 1976, Derrill married the former Dawn Roby, who survives.

He is survived by three children, Megan (Shawn) Hanes of Sidney, D.J. (Megan) Davis of Sidney and Hannah (Chris) Westenbarger of Lancaster; five grandchildren Payton (Eric), Jaycee, Brice, Kai, and Eleanor, and sister, Sue (Mike) Brooker of Indiana. 

Derrill retired after many years working as a Credit Manager for Thetford/Norcold. He was a member of Sidney First Presbyterian Church as well as the Voices of Ohio singing group. Derrill was a family first kind of man. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his loved ones.  He was an avid music lover who loved to do his "radio voice" to introduce the song to whoever was in the car with him, and he also had a profound knowledge of musical artists and eras. Derrill also had a great singing voice and would randomly break out in song.  He had a great sense of humor and loved "dad jokes" which he loved to share on Facebook.  Most people will remember him as the guy on the sidelines with the backward baseball cap and a camera, for he loved taking pictures. It didn't matter if he was taking wedding, family, or sports photos, he found so much joy in photography. Derrill also loved the Lord deeply and trusted in His unwavering faithfulness.  

There will be a Celebration of Life on August 20, 2022 at Sidney First Presbyterian Church. Calling hours will be from 1:00-3:00 PM, and the service will directly follow. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorial contributions go to Sidney First Presbyterian Church in Derrill's honor.
