Dean Schweitzer Obituary

DEAN RICHARD SCHWEITZER, 86, of Sidney passed away at 11:02 A.M. Saturday, April 24, 2021 at SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City. He was born on May 27, 1934 in Botkins, Ohio, the son of the late Richard and Edna (Steinke) Schweitzer. On January 8, 1955 he married the former Betty Marlene Comer, who preceded him in death on January 30, 2006.

Dean is survived by three children, Doug Schweitzer, David (Julie) Schweitzer, both of Sidney, and Debra (Dan) DeMaria of Blanchester, OH; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Schweitzer of Sidney and sister, Rose DeLay of Texas. He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Schweitzer.

Dean was employed at Baumfolder for the majority of his career. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Dean helped to organize Sidney High School Baseball Boosters, was a scout master with the Boy Scouts in Piqua, and enjoyed playing Santa which brought joy to many children over the years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family dearly and cherished his two Godsons, Jim Schweitzer of California and Todd DeLay of Texas, and Goddaughter, Cinda Meyer of Dayton.

Private services will be held for the family. Dean's final resting place will be at Cedar Point Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Ohio Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420, Attn: Foundation, in Dean's memory.
