David L. Jones

DAVID L. JONES, age 81 of Sidney, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at 8:15 AM at Landings of Sidney. He was born on January 12, 1943, in Whitley City, Kentucky, the son of the late Romer and Mildred (Duncan) Jones. On November 26, 1961, he married Cheryle Ann (Harp) who preceded him in death March 26, 2023.

He is survived by three children: Kelly (Albert) Stidham of Sidney, Kimberly Jones of Knoxville, TN, and Scott (Shelly) Jones of Sidney, brother, Romer “Doone” (Lelia) Jones of Sidney, sister, Rebecca Wilson of Troy, and nine grandchildren.

Dave spent 57 years in the automotive industry. He started his career in Sidney with Wentz Chevrolet in 1965 before moving on to Lang's Chevrolet in Fairborn, Ohio.  In 1970, he and his wife started Shelby Motors, Inc. in Sidney. Their son, Scott joined them in the family business in 1984 until the spring of 2022 when they retired due to family illness.

Dave attended Sidney Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, as well as wintering in Vero Beach, FL with Cheryle. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Landings of Sidney and Day City Hospice for their care and compassion.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 6 PM.
