David Patrick Deal

DAVID PATRICK DEAL, 72, of Sidney passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, May 12, 2023 at 1:40 PM at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 20, 1950, the son of the late William and Ellen (Edge) Deal. On June 26, 1982, David married the former Susan "Sue" Rothfuss, who survives.

He is survived by four children, Lisa and Kirk Winter, Zac and Christy Deal, Brian and Abby Deal and Tyler Deal and sister, Debi and Bill Balmat. He was known as Grandpa Cheese by his beloved grandchildren, Grant, Brock, Eli, Baya, Oliver and Mae.

Mr. Deal retired from Nidec Minster in 2022 working as a Machinist. He also worked for Monarch Machine. Dave proudly served his country with the Air National Guard and the Army National Guard. He was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm/Shield from November 1990 until July 1991 with the 1487th Transportation Company. Dave was honorably discharged in 1992. He was a member of Connection Point Church of God for over 7 years. His passion was being involved in his children and grandchildren's many activities and interests.

Dave had the unique ability to connect with a person like they were the only one in the room and gave his undivided attention to the conversation. He leaves behind a legacy of love to his family, his strong faith in God, his loyalty and dependability, his patience and fairness, work ethic, echoing laugh, his discipline, his secret handshakes, his friendship, and his giant bowls of ice cream.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney.
