CONNIE L. SCHIFF, 91 of Sidney, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 3:25 PM at The Landings of Sidney surrounded by her family. She was born on March 30, 1933, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Donald Hugh and Marguerite (Lanfersieck) Bertsch. On September 4, 1954, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, she married James M. Schiff who preceded her in death December 31, 2010.
Connie is survived by four children: Jamie Wurstner, Kelli (Tony) Barker both of Sidney, Tim (Kelly) Schiff of Dublin, OH, and Terrie Hilliger of Ft. Mill, SC, sister, Julie (John) Blackford of Sidney, sisters-in-law, Sharon Ridder of Urbana, OH, and Sandra (Bob) Ramsey of Ft. Leavenworth, KS, brother-in-law, Vince DeMott of Tempe, AZ, 11 grandchildren: Todd Wurstner, Ryan (Kara) Wurstner, Cory Wurstner, Beth (Robert) Riley, Paige(fiancé’ Chad Arkenburg) Barker, Zachary (Morgan) Schiff, Stephanie Schiff, Jimmy Schiff, Josie Schiff, Katie (Austin) Page, and Chad (Chloe) Hilliger, and eight great-grandchildren: Madison (Sean) Slack, Avery Wurstner, Cade Wurstner, James, Hollie, and Saylor Riley, and Olivia, and Sophie Hilliger. She was preceded in death by brother, Michael H. Bertch, sister-in-law, Sara DeMott, and sons-in-law, Thomas Wurstner, and Dale Hilliger.
Connie was a 1951 graduate of Sidney High School, and 1954 graduate of Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing. She was a caring, dedicated nurse who served in hospitals in Sidney, Troy, Dayton, and Columbus, primarily in obstetric. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be missed by many.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life Gathering on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM at the Sidney Moose Lodge, 1200 Broadway Ave. Connie's final arrangements are in care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
