CHARMANE LAVERNE FOGT, 93, of Sidney, passed away at 2:25 P.M. Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Fair Haven County Home. She was born on May 18, 1932 in Clarksburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late Maderia and Thelma (Boyer) Skinner. On November 13, 1948 she married Ernest Milton Fogt, who preceded her in death on November 21, 2011.
Charmane is survived by six children, Craig Fogt of Fort Loramie, Melody Voisinet and Bryan Yinger of Piqua, Bruce (Jolene) Fogt of Troy, Sherry (Doug) Pottorf of Sidney, Diana Lockhart of West Milton, and Dawn Fogt of Piqua; twenty-two grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren too numerous to count; brother-in-law, Phillip Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Glenna Fogt; son-in-law, Franklin Lockhart; and three siblings, Maderia Skinner, Jeanette Skinner, and Beulah Elliott.
Charmane earned a degree in Applied Sciences in Human Services Technology from Edison State. She was a founder and officer of the Edison State Alumni Association. In 1980, she reorganized the Shelby County Democratic Women. She also served as a founder and director of the Shelby County Adult Daycare.
Charmane was active in politics, serving as district chairman for Governor Celeste. She worked as office manager for Don Luce during his campaign, as well as for Bob Moon during his campaign for senator. She also assisted in campaigning for Dale Locker for state representative.
Many knew Charmane through her years in sales, including ten years with BeeLine Fashions and fifteen years with Avon Products. She also worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home, where she served as head of housekeeping, head of activities, and as a stand-in director.
Charmane was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. While her work and public service kept her busy, family was always at the center of her heart. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 1 P.M. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Randy Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wilson Hospice Care in Charmane’s memory.
