Carolyn Faye (Plank) Ableman

Carolyn Faye (Plank) Ableman born September 21, 1936, gained her wings on February 5, 2026, at the age of 89. Carol was born and raised in Shirley, Indiana. She attended Earlham College where she got her LPN license, after that she was a homemaker. She loved taking care of people, especially young children. She is preceded in death by her parents Margaret (Grey) Plank and Lovell Plank, her Aunt Tressa (Grey) Miller who raised her, brother Joe Plank, sister Lovetta Plank, sister Faye Clark, ex-husband David Scantland, husband Stuart Ableman, significant other John Gard, son Robert Scantland, great granddaughter Katelyn Shumaker and Marissa Portemont.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Warner and Betty Osenbaugh (Bob) and a brother Donnie McQueary. She has 6 children, Patrick Scantland, Christie Scantland-Miller, Demonta/Dee Scantland, Thomas Scantland and Kim Ableman. Grandchildren, Justin Scantland (Jennifer), Jeremy Scantland (Krista), Jeff Weyant (Sarah), Chasity Miniard (Rick), Jessica Miller, Ashley Lovett (Jamie), Michelle King (Joe), Kyle Scantland, Shayne Scantland, Cody Scantland (Lara), Thomas Scantland and Stuart Ableman (Rebecca). 32 Great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great- great grandchild. Numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial for Carol will be held in New Madison, Ohio at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
