Carl Edward Smith, 60, of Quincy passed June 16, 2026, at Ohio State University Medical Center shortly after 8 pm surrounded by his wife and daughters.
He was born on April 1, 1966, to the late Bobby Hugh Smith and Myrtle Jewell (Craig) Smith. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1984. On June 24, 2000, he married Rebecca Sidders at Pasco Methodist Church where he became a member. Carl was of a strong Christian background. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father as well as three sisters, Stella Lucier, Bessie Schellenberg, and Brenda Lloyd, one brother Chuck Smith, three nieces Paige Thompson, Brittney Smith and Pamela Mays, and one nephew David Lucier. He is survived by sisters, Debbie and Rachel Smith, Darlene Shaw, along with brothers Kenny, David and Bobby (Missy) Smith, as well as several nieces, nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Carl is also survived by father and mother-in-law Bill and Carol Sidders, sisters-in-law, Lori (John) Krouskop, Libby (Jason) Thompson, and Katie (Rob Plozay) Sidders. Becky, Madelyn (Chalen) Pistole and Lauren Smith also survive. Carl was a proud "Papaw" to Finneas Pistole and was excited to welcome grand baby number two this December.
Carl was an avid sports fan. He could rattle off stats for his favorite teams, the Detroit Lions, and the Tigers. He was known as "Reverend Bones" for the tales he was able to spin. Carl was an excellent cook - although very messy! He was currently employed at KTH in St. Paris. Carl will be remembered for his sense of humor, skills in the kitchen and faith in the Lord.
Funeral Services for Carl will be held Monday, June 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor Don Burley officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Rosewood, Ohio. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.
