Bruce Knasel age 71 of Sidney, Ohio passed away Saturday February 6, 2021 after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on April 18, 1949 in Sidney, Bruce was the son of the late Avery and Esther (Klopfenstein) Knasel.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Vicki (Chrisman) Knasel, his two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristen (John) Batton and Kara (Keith) Wiley, and his four grandchildren that he loved beyond measure, Jessica & Jenna Batton and Kavin & Kale Wiley. Additional family members include two sisters, Linda (Scott) Piper, Darcy (Myron) Verdier, a brother Jerry (David) Knasel, sisters- in-law, Rosie Jackson (Duane Neuenschwander), and Cherryl (William) Styles, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Bruce was a 1967 graduate of Fairlawn High School. He was a left handed pitcher for the Jets and also earned his State FFA Degree. He served in the UNITED STATES ARMY from March 24, 1969 through December 24, 1970. He served the last 18 months in Baumholder, Germany as an Artillery Specialist.
Bruce enjoyed fishing, trapping, boating, water sports, and especially playing tennis on family vacations in Florida. He was very competitive on the tennis court and challenged many with his ability to serve.
His love for farming started at a very young age and only grew stronger in his adult years. He shared his passion with his wife, children, grandchildren and sons-n-law. Bruce's strength and courage was a testament of his faith and love for his family, and life.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Pemberton United Methodist Church, 6541 Main St. Pemberton, OH, with Pastor Don Burley officiating. Services will be live streamed through Pemberton UMC. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Plattsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home. Social distancing and masks are required by the family.
