BETTY "BETSY" L. (ELSNER) CLARK, age 81 of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Lima Memorial surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 27, 1940 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Warren Ivan and Ruth Jeanette (Harp) Elsner.
Betsy is survived by her husband of 63 wonderful years, Richard "Dick" Clark: three daughters, Susan (Ron) Elmore of Jackson Center, Grandson Greg (Rani), twins Ryan and Ethan, Grandson Scott (Szymon) Ava, Hayden, and Eli, Grandson Dr. Jeff (Dr. Rachel), Isaac, Malachi, Peter, and Titus, daughter Karen (Jim) Olding, Devon and Dru (Shelby), and daughter Lori (Chuck) Gettis of New Hope Pa., Ian and Caroline. She is survived by two brothers, Dan Elsner, and Steve Elsner of Sidney.
Betsy loved her family and extended family with all her heart. She traveled many miles pursuing the connection whether it was sports, school plays, spelling bees, or birthdays. Anything to be part of their lives made her happy.
Betsy graduated with the Sidney High School class of 1958. She was a cheerleader, played sports, and was active in orchestra. She retired from Ross Aluminum Foundries in 2000 with 26 years in the accounting department. Through the years she worked at Ross with her parents and brothers. Along the way she worked in the school system, the employment office, and Wells office supply. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, as were her parents and grandparents. She met her to-be husband on the Spot corner while on the way to choir practice. She talked him into going along.
Betsy loved to travel and saw everything new as a great adventure. She marveled at the beauty of Hawaii, the Rocky Mountains, and New York's Broadway, and included her girls in her travels. Above all, she loved to visit family.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 2 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 W. Water St., Sidney, with Rev. Steve Edmiston officiating. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
