Barbara A. (Grieshop) Cole

BARBARA A. (GRIESHOP) COLE, 77, of Sidney passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 2:47 PM at Ohio Living Dorothy Love. She was born on June 22, 1946 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Hubert and Anna Mary (Meyer) Grieshop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Cole, on November 4, 2023.

She is survived by three daughters, Angela Smith, Julie (Eric) Mestemaker, and Lori (Steve) Petitjean, grandchildren, Tyler (Stephanie) Wiford, Jordan (Greg) Marshall, Kassandra Mestemaker, Carolyn Mestemaker, Daniel Mestemaker, Haley Petitjean, and Grace Petitjean, great grandchildren, Lily, Lucas, Elijah, Emerson, and Cameron, siblings, Becki Sharp and Jan (Dan) Smith, sister in laws, Cathy Grieshop and Becky Grieshop and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by siblings, Larry Grieshop and Bill Grieshop.

After graduating from Sidney High School in 1964, she took employment in the bookkeeping department at Dunson Supply Company. It was during this time she met Robert E. Cole, became engaged then married on July 2, 1966.  Not long after, their three daughters were born. She always said her biggest achievement was raising her three daughters and enjoyed spending quality time with them and eventually with her grandchildren.

Her joys in life outside of spending time with family and friends, consisted of reading, caring for her West Highland White terriers, sewing, upholstery work, bowling, playing cards, Yahtzee and Rummikub at family gatherings, and biking.  She thoroughly enjoyed her many GOBA(Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure) biking and camping trips with friends and going crawdad catching with her grandchildren in the creeks at Tawawa Park. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and worked in and retired from Shelby County Department of Jobs & Family Services. All who knew her will miss her sense of humor and laugh. She will be greatly missed by all including many at Dorothy Love where she spent her last five years.

A Memorial Mass will be held Monday April 22, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Jarred Kohn officiating. A gathering with food and refreshments will take place after the funeral and committal service at Graceland Cemetery.  The priest will let people in attendance know where this will take place. Friends may visit Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney.
