Arnold Mabes

Arnold Mabes age 64 of Sidney passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at home. He was born on July 17, 1960, in Speedwell, TN., the son of Willie and Julia (Norton) Mabes.

Arnold is survived by his children Cheyenne (Josh) Childs (Mabes) and Derrick Mabes, grandchildren Hailee Childs, Sophia Childs, Brinley Childs and Emery Childs, Ally Young, Amber Mabes, David Mabes, siblings Esco (Georgia)Mabes-Decd, Sidney, Chet (June) Mabes-Decd, Speedwell, TN., Mary (Earl) Houk-Decd, Mt. Vernon, KY., George Mabes-Decd, Speedwell, TN., Paul Mabes-Decd, Piqua, Bonnie Mabes, Speedwell, TN., Buster (Donna) Mabes, Speedwell, TN., Hazle (Dan) Spurlock, Harrogate, TN., Oscar (Melissa) Mabes, Port Jefferson, Margie Mabes (Bob), Pineknot, KY., Willie Mabes Jr, Speedwell, TN. and Ruby Davis, St. Paris and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

Arnold was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, fishing, hiking and just being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family near and down south. He enjoyed the holidays spent with family and by decorating his house with outdoor lights and decorations, plus dressing up to hand out candy at Halloween. He enjoyed his grandchildren by teaching them to garden, picking berries, eating ice cream at the park, and having gatherings to eat watermelon or hunt hundreds of Easter eggs. If he could help you, he would. He was a simple man of few words, he could always be found in a work uniform, flannel/t-shirt and blue jeans, moccasin slippers or his work boots! He had a giving heart by nature, every year he planted a garden and gave so much of it away to neighbors, family, or friends. He will be greatly missed.
