Anita Louise Cromes

ANITA LOUISE CROMES, 81, of Sidney, passed away at 5:07 P.M. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born on May 16, 1944 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Houser Wayne and Mary “Virginia” (Eshman) Miller.

Anita is survived by three daughters, Monica (Tim) Lynch of Port Jefferson, Stephanie (Travis Freisthler) Weigel of Sidney, and Rachel (Jerry Schroer) Partington of Sidney; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Carl, Ashley, Tom, Austin, Kaileigh, and Christian; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Kaitlyn, Carter, Gabriel, and Anakin; one sister, Mary (Harry) Dziabas of Hurt, VA; and her longtime companion and an important part of her life for many years, Delbert Cromes. She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Partington, and her brother, Tom Miller.

Anita retired from the former General Motors plant in Dayton after more than 30 years. Following retirement, she served as a provider for over 15 years with the Shelby County Board for Developmental Disabilities. She often said her most important work was being a mother and lovingly caring for her grandson Tom, with whom she shared an especially close bond. Through that role, Anita developed a deep commitment to advocating for autism and for individuals and families navigating similar challenges.

She was known as a kind soul, dearly loved by her neighbors and friends. Anita found joy in tending her flower garden and treasured the companionship of her dogs, Ivy, Olive, and Willow, as well as her macaw, Lily.

Anita was a lifelong member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where a memorial mass will be held on Friday, January 9, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. Her final resting place will be at Cedar Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home on Friday from 9 A.M. until 10 A.M. Condolences may be expressed to Anita’s family at, www.cromesfh.com
