Allyn West, 51, of Sidney passed away August 10, 2023 due to a long illness. Allyn was born in Sidney to Nova (Bell) West and Gary Allyn West. He was their only child. Allyn is survived by his three adult children, Allyson, Allyn Mikol, and Aubrey; the children's mother, Amy (Jewett) Banfield; and his mother, Nova West. He is preceded in death by his father Gary Allyn West, and his grandparents.
Allyn graduated from Sidney High school in 1989 and received a degree from Edison Community College in 1992. He then went to Wright State University while working at various food restaurants to help pay his way through college. After graduation, he was employed as a manager at NK Parts. Then he moved into a customer service position at Cenveo in Sidney, and NCR in Dayton before he had to retire because of his health.
Allyn was a very memorable person with a big personality and a great sense of humor. He was always the funniest guy in the room. He could make a joke out of anything and often did. He enjoyed making others feel good by making them laugh. He was also not afraid to stand up for others when he felt they needed an extra voice in order to be heard. In addition to his children, he loved playing all types of board games, from D&D to a Scooby-Doo version no one had ever heard of before. He also loved comic books, Star Wars, reading, and a good pizza.
He was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church.
In the place of a funeral Allyn would have wanted a celebration of his life. Therefore, A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date to honor his life. Allyn will be missed very much by his family, friends, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
