WILLIAM "BILL" EMERSON OPPERMAN, 81, of Polk City, Florida, formerly of Sidney, passed away at 10:22 PM on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. He was born on September 30, 1936 in Botkins, Ohio, the son of the late Milo and Odetta (Wical) Opperman.

On January 11, 1958 Bill married Shirley Ann Shroyer and she survives along with four daughters; Debra Newman of Troy, Sherri O'Dell of Canal Winchester, Pamela Sims of Sidney and Audra Anderson of Auburndale, Florida, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and one brother, Joseph Opperman of Centerville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Philip Opperman.

Mr. Opperman was retired but had worked as a truck driver. He was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army in the 2nd Armored Division out of Ft. Hood, Texas. Bill was a member of American Legion Post #8 in Winter Haven, Florida and a member of Some Gave All Moving Tribute. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave. Sidney with Rev. Dr. David Chivington officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson. Friends may call on Monday from 10 AM - until hour of service.
