Vernon R. Gilfillen

VERNON R. GILFILLEN, 76, of Sidney, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at 8:31 PM at Cleveland Clinic. He was born on September 17, 1940 in Shelby County, Ohio, the son of the late Vernon Sr. and Clara Margaret (Leckey) Gilfillen.

On September 21, 1958 Vernon married Rita Enders who survives along with four children, Rex (Connie) Gilfillen, Ginger (Mark) Davidson, Mindy (Aaron) Cox, and Molly (Scott) Heath all of Sidney, one sister, Ruth Ellen Baker, 11 grandchildren, Ross (April) Gilfillen, Stacy (Dave) Huelskamp, Jordan Gilfillen, Natalie (Adam) Sturm, Courtney (David) Spearman, Myla, Haley and Carson Cox, and Lonna, Cassie and Joylynn Heath, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gilfillen worked at LeRoi Dresser in Sidney as a machinist for over 42 years and was a lifelong grain farmer.

Vernon enjoyed camping with family, wood working, and gardening with his wife. He loved his family, and above all things he cherished the time spent with them, especially his grandchildren and watching their sporting events.

Vernon was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church where Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10:30 AM by Rev. Ross Gilfillen (grandson of Vernon) assisted by Rev. Eileen Hix. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery in Pasco. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney.
