Shane Allen Smith

SHANE ALLEN SMITH, 30, of New Lebanon, Ohio, formerly of Botkins, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on September 13, 1986 in St. Marys, Ohio, the son of Thomas (Kimberly) Smith of Wapakoneta and Dorothy (Zack) Porter of Botkins.  

Shane is survived by his son, Jayce Allen Smith; brother, Thomas Smith and Taylor Costanzo of Clearwater, FL; sister, Brooke Smith and William Myers of Columbus Grove, OH; step-sister, Robin Barto; two grandmothers, Rosalie Varno of Minster, and Geraldine Brown of Sidney; niece, Hunter Smith; and nephew, T.J. Smith.  He was preceded in death by four grandfathers, Paul Mohrman, Thomas Brown, Thomas Varno and Thomas Smith; grandmother, Deeann Smith; and uncle, Albin Smith. 

Shane was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., where he served as a Mortarman, Military Occupational Specialty 0341 and Assistant Gunner.  He was a proud member of the NRA. Growing up, Shane enjoyed outdoor activities such as BMX-ing, riding dirtbikes and 4-wheeling.  Shane also enjoyed military history and mythology.  He was an avid online gamer and enjoyed hanging out with friends and family.  Shane was a loving father and found his son, Jayce to be his greatest joy.     

A Graveside Service with full military honors performed by the United States Marine Corps. will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Dayton National Cemetery.  Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S.
