Robert Henry Hilgefort

ROBERT HENRY HILGEFORT, 91 of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 12:43 PM at his home. He was born on March 21, 1927 in Fort Loramie, Ohio, the son of the late Frederick and Cecelia (Dircksen) Hilgefort. On May 25, 1955 he married Rita (Albers) who preceded him in death July 11, 2012.

Robert is survived by four children, Roberta (Erik) Hosler of Gulfport, MS, Margie (Dan) Hapner of Dayton, Lori (Paul) Heins of Sidney, and Kurt (Amy Puthoff) Hilgefort of Minster, three siblings, Louise Homan of Maria Stein, Rosemary Heitkamp of McCartyville, and Louis (Phyllis) Hilgefort of Fort Loramie, and grandchildren, Kyle (Lindsey) Hapner and daughter Kendall, Erika Hosler and son John Mark, John, RJ, Chloe, and Ryan Heins, Derek, Kristin, Megan, Catherine, Erin, Jamie, Michael and Gunnar Hilgefort. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Hilgefort, and six siblings, Hilda Hilgefort, Herbert Hilgefort, Norma Post, Verona Boecker, Maryann Heitkamp, and Caroline Bruns. 

Mr. Hilgefort served his country as a U.S. Army veteran in the 6th Armored Div. from 1951 to 1953. He worked as a carpenter, retiring from Wallick Properties in Piqua. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and Sidney American Legion Post 217.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Peter Langenkamp officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8 PM, and Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney.
