Richard Thomas Evans

RICHARD THOMAS EVANS, 90, of Sidney passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 2:45 AM at his residence. He was born on April 30, 1928 in Houston, Ohio, the son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Swob) Evans. On December 17, 1954, Richard married the former Erma Jewel Frasure, who survives.

He is survived by five children, Deborah (Tom) Burkett, Scott Alan (Sarah) Evans and Betty Jane (Tim) Allen all of Piqua, Catherine (Rick) Dulin of Sidney and Richard Thomas (Gloria) Evans II of Versailles; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Evans Jr. and David Evans; one sister-in-law, Karen (Rhoades) Evans and three grandchildren, Angela Dulin, Tava (Morrison) Dulin and Matthew Evans.

Mr. Evans retired as a Supervisor of Marion Contractors after many years. Richard was a member of the Carpenter Union, a past surveyor for the Shelby County Engineer Office and former caretaker at Beechwood Cemetery in Lockington. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 217 in which he was a part of the Honor Guard. He enjoyed volunteering his time at all the American Legion chicken fry's and brunches events. Richard loved to spend time with family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday November 11, 2018 at 4 PM at Cromes - Edwards Funeral Home 302 S. Main Ave Sidney, with the American Legion Post 217 performing the service. Full Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 217 following the service. Friends may visit from 1 PM up until the time of the service.
