Nancy B. Smith

NANCY B. SMITH, 90, of Sidney, passed away at 9:25 P.M. Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Wilson Health.  She was born on January 20, 1927 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clarence and Jean (Helwagen) Benjamin.  On March 15, 1952 she married Dr. Ned A. Smith, who preceded her in death on February 5, 1994.

Nancy is survived by three children, Sally (Brent) Allen of Lima, OH, Debbie (Tom) Behrend of Sioux Falls, SD, and Ward (Cheryl) Smith of Parker, CO; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Benjamin, and one granddaughter, Stephany Smith.

Nancy was an honorary charter member of the Wilson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, an active member of Sidney Emmaus Community, a Girl Scout Leader and member of Christian Womens Club.  She also volunteered at the Alpha Center and Y.M.C.A., and served as the head cook at Tar Hollow Church Camp.  In her youth she was a cheerleader, honor student, an avid dancer and was active in theatre.  Nancy had her own career for some time as manager and instructor of the Diet Workshop, while also being a life-long homemaker and strong influence in her husband's medical practice. 

Nancy was a life member of Sidney First United Methodist Church, where a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 12 PM.  Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S.
