MILDRED "LU" MOORE, age 87 of Sidney, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at 12 AM at Fair Haven Shelby County Home. She was born on June 2, 1931 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Raburn and Etta May (Simmons) Loyd. She was first married to Julius Clinton Meade who preceded her in death August 22, 1983.
On November 15, 1985 Lu married Newell J. Moore Jr. who survives along with one daughter, Melinda Sparks of Foley, AL, five step-children Deborah (Rob) White of Durant, OK, Dennis (Barbara) Moore, Dawn (David) Botner, Duane Moore and Dwight Moore all of Sidney, daughter-in-law, Rose Moore of Sidney, sister, Betty (Ferrell) White of Pikeville, TN, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one step-son, David Moore, and two brothers, E.J. and Clayton Loyd.
Mrs. Moore worked at McCalls in Dayton for Newsweek Magazine, and later retired from Copeland Corporation. She was a member of Connection Point Church of God, and Gideons International Auxiliary, where she was very active in the Shelby County jail ministry.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10 AM at Connection Point Church of God, 1510 Campbell Rd, Sidney, with Pastor Alan Leach officiating. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney. The family will receive friends at Connection Point Church on Saturday from 8:30 AM until the hour of service. Arrangements are in the care of Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home.
