Michael Jay Goffena

MICHAEL JAY GOFFENA, 73, of Sidney passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, with his loving family by his side, at the Landings at Sidney. He was born on March 31, 1945 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Marcel "Mike" and Inez "Inie" (Simon) Goffena, who preceded him in death.

Michael is survived by five children, Michael  "Jon" Goffena of Cape Coral, FL, Monica (Michael) Jacobs of Queensbury, NY, Justin (Sherrie) Goffena of Brookville, Matthew (Julie) Goffena and Melissa (Dan) Jock both of Sidney; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandra (Dave) Monnin and Mother Margaret Mary "Mary Jane" Goffena and one brother, Lawrence "Larry" (Josie) Goffena.

Mr. Goffena was once the proud owner of Goffena Furniture in Sidney. Mike was a second generation in the family business and had the great fortune to see a fourth generation continue the family legacy. His passions were for fishing and driving his fast cars. Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where a Memorial Mass will be held Thursday August 2, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Father Frank Amberger officiating.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio.  The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to S.C.A.R.F (Shelby County Animal Rescue Foundation) in Michael's honor.
