LARRY LYNN BILLING, 78, of Sidney, Ohio passed away peacefully after a brief illness at 4:20am on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at home surrounded by his beloved wife and two daughters.

Larry was born on March 13, 1939 in Anna, Ohio, the son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Kah) Billing. On February 24, 1963, he married Patricia Ann Clark. She survives along with their two daughters Lynn Billing of Atlanta, GA and Amy Billing McCoy, son-in-law Mark and two grandsons, Connor and Parker of Marietta, GA; one sister June Billing and one brother Gene (Judi) Billing, both of Anna and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Rosie Billing, Virginia (Ginny) McIntyre, Maxine Wilt and Mary Katherine Billing; and three brothers, Harold (Shuby) Billing, Kay Billing and Dale Kay.

After high school, Larry attended Otterbein College then joined the Army, being honorably discharged in 1967. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking and spent the majority of his professional career in the banking industry. He dedicated most of his career to First National Bank, First Federal Savings and Loan and People's Federal Savings and Loan, where he retired in July 2004. He also served on the boards of the YMCA, Piqua Country Club, Sidney/Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and AAA. In addition, he was an active member of Woodpeckers, Optimist Club, United Way, and proud member of American Legion Heiland Post and Royal Order of the Moose.

Larry was an avid sports fan. In his younger days, he played basketball, baseball and slo-pitch. He became a referee and even when he gave up the whistle, he still refereed from his seat in a chair or on a bleacher. Until just recently, he remained an active golfer. Larry especially loved Kentucky basketball and he journeyed to watch the Wildcats play in Rupp Arena, at SEC tournaments and Final Fours. He was so proud to have been honored as a Kentucky Colonel by the Commonwealth of Kentucky in January 1989. With his grandsons living in Marietta, GA, he spent many weeks on the road in order to watch both grandsons play baseball and basketball at home or in a tournament somewhere in the eastern United States. When Larry was not watching a sporting event somewhere, he was with his wife spending time with family and friends, visiting his daughters and grandsons in Atlanta or vacationing on Hilton Head Island.

Larry was a life long member of St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Anna where Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10: 30 AM with Pastor David Westphal officiating. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery in Swanders. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave, Sidney, and on Friday from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at the church.
