Kathryn R. "Katie" Billing

KATHRYN R. "KATIE" BILLING, 90, of Sidney passed away at 12:37 AM Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Wilson Health.  She was born on April 17, 1927 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edwin and Grace (Iiams) Nevin.  She was married to James King, Sr., who passed away in 1966.  She later married Donald R. Billing, who was a wonderful person and treated her children as his own.  He preceded her in death on August 31, 2007.

Katie is survived by two children, Carol (Gail) Freisthler, and James (Roxy) King, both of Sidney; five grandchildren, Brett (Heather) Sullenberger, Lorie (David) Thomson, Leslie (Chris) Jackson, Tara (Eugene) Whitehead, and Stacie King; and eight great-grandchildren, Sean Sullenberger, Libby and Emma Hurley, Riley and Sophia Jackson, Lucy Thomson, and Will and Alex Whitehead.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Brautigam; three brothers, Ralph, Dale and Gene Nevin, and one sister, Margery Nevin. 

Katie retired from Dayton Power & Light after 20 years of service.  Before that, she worked for Montgomery Wards Credit Department for 10 years.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Legion Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary.  She was also a charter member of the Senior Center of Sidney, where she enjoyed the fellowship of friends, playing cards and line dancing.  Katie was an avid bowler in the Sidney Women's Scratch League for 30 years. 

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center of Sidney.  Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made to the Billing family at the funeral home's website, www.cromesfh.com
